You can only register for an exam through API. Online registration is available at http://www.api.org/products-and-services/individual-certification-programs. Each exam has a registration deadline and there are specific dates, or an exam window, that you can take the exam. See the API exam schedule here.
Once API has approved your application you are sent an email inviting you to schedule a date and location for your exam with Prometric. Most CODEWEST students try to schedule the exam in Houston as close to the end the Exam Prep Course as possible.
There is no difference in the material covered. The shorter course will provide a different daily format with the same quality instruction as the 10 day. CODEWEST offers two choices to let you decide which would best fit with your schedule and experience. If this is your first time testing with API we recommend the 10 day course.
Our Exam Prep Courses often fill up early and close to the API exam registration deadline. The only way to reserve a spot is to register for the course. Pre-Course Study Guides are sent no less than 30 days before the first day of class and usually a week or so early. Only fully registered students with tuition paid in full are sent the guides.
Register online with a credit card by following the links on our Home page; this is the preferred method of registering. If you need to register with a check, PO, or wire transfer, contact CODEWEST at email@example.com or 281-392-4540.
*Registering for a CODEWEST Exam Prep Course does NOT register you for the API exam.

The tuition for all courses include the Course Material Binder and a Pre-Course Study Guide that will be emailed to students 30 days prior to the first day of class. (the API 1169 does NOT include pre-course study guide).
The cost of tuition DOES NOT include: API exam registration, API Codes, hotel or travel accommodations.
If a student is unable to attend a course, they may request a transfer to a future course. Once a student elects to transfer, they are no longer eligible for a refund and must apply their tuition to a course that falls within one year of the original course date.
We MUST receive written notice by email 2 weeks before the course begins. A phone call requesting a transfer MUST be followed up with an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Houston has two major airports: George Bush Intercontinental and Hobby. George Bush is about 8 miles from the course location and Hobby is about 29 miles from the course location.
Transportation and Rental cars:
There is a shuttle from George Bush Intercontinental Airport to the hotel. The class location is convenient to several restaurants and some shopping. However Houston is an automobile oriented city and a car, though not a necessity, is an option to consider.
